This technique has been proven to be extremely effective, especially if you’re trying to reach Millenials, as they love to discover brands this way.

The catch is telling a story takes time, typically more time than is available in traditional advertising. The surging popularity of video sharing sites like Youtube provide a great way to get deeper into the story you’re trying to tell, allowing for a greater connection and response from potential customers.

Chevrolet capitalized on this method with an emotionally charged video that connects generations. By tying their brand to fond memories of the past, they call upon Chevy’s roots while fueling the brand’s future. It’s a great example of story branding and I’m looking forward to more examples from other brands as telling stories becomes a more popular means of marketing
